Solving Probability Problems with a Uniform Distribution

When we are solving probability problems where the outcomes follow a uniform distribution, we can use a generalised and strucutred approach to calculating the probabilities of different events.

Probability involving dice, cards, or spinners for example can be solved this way, provided that they are fair.

The approach for finding the probability of an event EE when drawing from a uniform distribution involves three steps:

  1. Counting the number of possible outcomes NN
  2. Counting the number of outcomes (kk) that relate to the event EE
  3. Performing the division kN\frac{k}{N}
